1 Chronicles 1:17-3:9
Since the dawn of time, humanity has been in the business of appropriating things that do not belong to them. The source of this movement has been based on an incessant disposition of ingratitude and discontentment. Even with numerous blessings, we cannot be content until we have it all or no one has it at all!
Take the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve had access to EVERYTHING but ONE TREE. What came with that tree was something that did not belong to them. It wasn't only the fruits on the tree but nourishment they provided. They had the perfect marriage, the perfect diet, the perfect environment, and perfect relationship with God. But it wasn't enough.
Satan told them that they would become like God by violating His edict and consuming the forbidden fruit. Satan convinced the first couple that they were entitled to the forbidden. God established an essential boundary and the first couple obliterated it because they felt the restrictions were unfair.
This unhealthy and depraved disposition of entitlement found its way in the 2nd perfect place in creation, Heaven being the first. Sadly, the entitlement didn't end with the first couple. Cain, son of Adam, felt entitled to be equally favored by God. He, too, lived in the best place on Earth but was not content unless the system of equity was installed in economy of God's will.
The clay sought to set the parameters of their modeling, by the Potter, based on view obscured by shortsightedness and selfishness. Is this not the modus operandi of the entitled, to fashion reality to their liking? Hence, if circumstances are not favorable, change them!
It has become a culture of dissatisfaction at every level. Even today, the cultural appropriating accusers herald of injustices committed against focus groups because of discrimination based on their perceived/promoted identity. Unfortunately, their perception does not have to be based in reality, especially for Christians.
For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine.Psalm 50:10-11 (ESV)
Cattle on a thousand hills is the war cry of the materially unsatisfied. What is completely missed in this passage is that God owns it all. Christians, incorrectly, appropriate the things of God under the faulty assumption that being His followers entitle them to His belongings. Claiming the title, "Child of God" has now become the unalterable declaration of inheritance to the things that belong to God.
Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.Job 1:20-21 (ESV)
Job is probably one of the most wealthy people in the Bible, only rivaled by the likes of Pharaoh, Solomon, Nebuchadnezzar and a few more. In all this wealth and prosperity; he never let it be an object of obsession. Job understood that he cannot take these possessions with him into the next world.
Cultural appropriating accusers are so focused on acquiring things, at all costs, that they do not understand that they can never truly own anything. The idea that anything created by an ethnic group, like braids, is the most ignorant argument and assertion. Meals, color coordination of attire and so many things have been slapped with an ownership label. Wailing cultural appropriation is the precursor to resegregation based on ethnicity, gender and socioeconomic status.
Ownership has been assigned to music styles, hair styles, lip/butt sizes, and several other things that are completely superficial but are important because the style has been or is being monetized! The list of products have no limit. Wailing cultural appropriation is the precursor to resegregation based on ethnicity, gender and socioeconomic status. Public shaming is used as a weapon to strip away the freedom of people to create of their own accord.
The reason that cultural appropriation is a delusion is that assumes the accused is guilty of theft or attempt theft to something they do not own. If the accused is guilty of stealing; then we, who cry foul, are guilty of theft as well because God is the True Owner of it all! By assuming that people groups are cultural appropriating is transferring our station as stewards to owners and there is no text that shows the transfer of deeds.
